How Can I Get My Results Sooner?
If speed is important, taking IELTS on Computer is the fastest option. In most cases, results are available within two days after your test.
Please note that result timelines vary depending on the test format you choose. Some test types may take longer than others.
In rare cases, additional checks may be required to confirm your scores or verify identification details. When this happens, results may take slightly longer to be released.
Checking Your IELTS Results Online
You can easily access your scores through the Test Taker Portal. Once your results are ready, you will receive an email notification with a direct link to view them. Some test centres may also send an SMS alert.
Please note that IELTS results are not shared by email or phone. You must use the official online link to view your scores.
Your results will remain visible online after they are released. However, online results are not considered official proof. For formal use, you will need your IELTS Test Report Form.
What Is the IELTS Test Report Form (TRF)?
The IELTS Test Report Form (TRF) is the official document that confirms your test performance and can be used as evidence of your English proficiency. It is issued either as a paper document or an electronic Test Report Form (eTRF), depending on how you take the test.
Paper Test Report Form
For paper-based IELTS, results are released 13 days after the test date.
For IELTS on Computer, results are usually available within 1–2 days.
Paper TRFs can be collected directly from the test centre or sent by post, depending on local arrangements. If mailed, please allow at least seven working days for delivery.
Electronic Test Report Form (eTRF)
Candidates who take IELTS Online or IELTS on Computer will receive their results electronically only.
The eTRF can be downloaded from the Test Taker Portal between 1 and 8 days after the test
No additional paper TRF will be issued
You may print your eTRF, email it to institutions, or send your results directly to organisations through the Test Taker Portal. If you lose your TRF or have questions about your results, you should contact the test provider for assistance.
Requesting Additional Copies of Your TRF
Most organisations require original IELTS Test Report Forms, and photocopies are usually not accepted. However, candidates who take IELTS Online can print or email their eTRF.
Up to five additional TRF copies can be sent directly to organisations such as universities, employers, or immigration offices. Requests must be submitted via the Test Taker Portal within two years of your test date.
While paper TRFs are still commonly used, many institutions now accept electronic IELTS score delivery. It is recommended to confirm their preference before requesting paper copies.
Understanding Your IELTS Scores
You will receive an individual band score for each section:
Listening
Reading
Writing
Speaking
Each section is graded on a 0–9 band scale, using either whole bands (e.g. 6.0, 7.0) or half bands (e.g. 6.5, 7.5).
Your overall band score is also shown on your Test Report Form. This represents your overall level of English proficiency, calculated from all four sections.
